A summary of a very encouraging and thought provoking day - Maria, Ella and
>myself spent last Saturday at The Faith Mission, in Gilmerton, to hear two
>ladies from CWR give a seminar on 'How to be a Secure Woman.' Jeanette
>Barwick and Nicky-Sue Leonard Shared their personal experiences and
>biblical truths with us, giving examples and practical guidelines as to how
>we,as women living in a very secular and demanding world, can find our
>security, totally, in God.
>Esther was given as an example of someone whom, from a minority group, by
>faith and Godly wisdom, was used by God to save her people. Even though
>she was in a privileged position and very beautiful' her security was in
>God alone and so God was able work through her. Her uncle Mordecai actually
>said to her ' who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a
>time as this.' Proverbs 4; 14b.
>We went through lists of the things we put in the place of God i.e. Career,
>appearance, family, church activities etc and Nicky-Sue asked us to
>mentally draw a 'target' and then place in the middle and on the out-going
>rings where we would place God,our family etc..What is at the centre of
>your target?
>They then offered us six steps to finding security; -
>step 1 - Face the fact I cannot make my life work on my own (Jesus looked
>to his Father for everything..how much more should we!). I'll keep you in
>suspense for the other five as there is a booklet to accompany this seminar
>and it would maybe be good to do it together, if people would like to?
> Our model for Godly relating, we are advised, should be The Trinity, the
>perfect partnership. As Ella read out on Sunday; -
>' The Father never seeks to outshine the Son. The Son is always seeking to
>bring glory to the Father and the Holy Spirit is never jealous of the
>attention given to the Son.'
>We are, each one of us, full of potential for Godly relating. There then
>followed six more steps suggesting how we can attain this.
>Finally the desire was to 'remain thirsty for God' and to keep on
>encouraging each other.
>If people would like all these points I haven't mentioned put on the
>website please let me know. I'm going to suggest to the ladies homegroup
>that this maybe a possible future study. Thanks!
>
>There is a future seminar by these two ladies on Saturday 24 th March 10 am
>- 4 pm at Newton Mearns Baptist Church called ' Designer Living.' As with
>the last seminar the teaching is based on CWR's 'Christ Empowered Living'
>which I would strongly recommend to people. (Keith is quite keen to go
>through this series again if anyone is interested). Local organisers for
>this event are Pam Mitchell, Tel 0141 639 6135 and Alison McEwan Tel 0141
>882 4331. I have one spare application form if anyone is interested.
>
>There is also a future event coming called 'Resurrection - celebrate the
>greatest event in history' ,Sun 8 th April 7.30 pm Ingliston - admission
>free. Please see rabbit shaped flyers on the info table.
