This Sunday 2nd Dec 10.30am

Opening Our Hearts & Homes (3 John) Psalm 122
Speaker: Rev. Willie Nixon

'The Great Escape'

Saturday 1st December 4pm-5.30pm: 'The Great Escape' Clermiston Inn, Function Suite.

Paul Woodman, a Christian Illusionist and Escapologist, will be there to do some of what he calls 'his tricks' and to share his testimony. This is an event for the whole congregation, but focused at the children and families of JAFFA and BaselineXtra. It's truly an 'All-Age Event'.

It's free so invite friends and family to come along for fun and a message! We won't be serving food, but there will be sweets and nibbles, coffee/tea and soft drinks available for everyone as they arrive.

Mandate

Last weekend, 3 Emmanuelites went on a short flight across the Irish Sea to attend Mandate 2007 in Belfast. This is the biggest gathering of Christian men in Europe! It's a (long) day's conference with worship led by Robin Mark, a main speaker, a seminar slot in the afternoon, and a bit of entertainment in the form of an escapologist.

The worship was pretty inspiring - it's not often you hear 4000 men singing songs together. Well, I suppose it is quite often if you count football, but they're not usually quite as Christian as these songs. We'll see which ones we can work in over the coming few weeks in our services...

The main speaker who had an Irish name, Erwin McManus, actually comes from El Salvador via the USA. The main thing I learnt from the whole thing was to just get on and obey God in the things we already know we should be doing and not to worry to much about getting it just right - it's much better to obey and be a bit awkward and just to let God do his stuff. And the examples of the sort of stuff God has done are pretty awesome.

If you want to know more, then speak to me at the service next Sunday - I'll be there this time. After all, I am meant to be leading it.
